What Is A Lash Lift, And How Is It Done?

The newest “it” trend in beauty, a lash lift offers the best of both worlds: you get the semi-permanent lift and curl of eyelash extensions without the additional care, or the potential damage to your natural lashes. Lash lifts also last longer than lash extensions while allowing you to customize your results, from the shape of the curl, to the addition of tint to make your eyes pop even further by adding depth and darkness with lashes that look longer and thicker!

But that’s not all, a lash lift really helps open the eyes, making you look bright-eyed and alert. The lifted effect also brings out the full length of every individual lash, making them look instantly longer.

A Lash Lift Is Like A Perm For Your Eyelashes.

A lash lift is basically a perm that provides 8-12 weeks of lift and curl to your lashes without having to bother with tools, curling wands, and false lashes. Also nicknamed “lash perm,” this procedure works with a keratin solution to create volume. The same way a hairstylist would set your hair around different size barrels (depending on the curl size you want), and coat it with a perming solution to lock in the shape, a lash specialist curls your lashes over a silicone pad (that is placed over your eyelid) then paints the hairs with a lifting solution. Depending on the size of the pad used, the lashes can be lifted more or less dramatically. There are small, medium, and large silicone pads which are utilized depending on the natural length of your lashes and/or how curly you’d like them to be.

When lash perming was introduced, a soft sponge in the shape of a rod would be placed at the base of the lashes to give the lashes their new shape. This method of perming lashes is still done today, however, it produces a less natural shape and curl to the lash.

Once your lashes have been secured to the perm rod or silicone pad (by a special glue that does not harm the lashes) the perming solution is applied to the upturned lash. This solution is left to set for 10 minutes, followed by the neutralizer which is then left on for an additional 10 minutes. In certain systems there will be a nourishing oil as the last step, this nourishing oil also helps to break up the glue that was used to secure the lashes to the silicone pad, making its removal easier. Once the silicone pad has been removed the eyelids and lashes are cleansed of any residue product. The over all procedure takes approximately 45 minutes to perform.

The chemical reaction breaks and reforms the bonds of the eyelash hair. This reaction, softens the lash’s inner structure between the protein chains of the hair. The hair swells, stretches and softens, then is molded around the shape of the silicone pad to form the desired curl.

Every treatment starts with a consultation to determine what lash style you’re looking to achieve. The level of curl is customizable and based on your answers, your esthetician will then pick a suitable curling pad size to shape the lashes.

Does a Lash Lift damage your own natural eyelashes?

Not if performed by a skilled and properly trained professional who will ensure proper lash lift procedures are followed.

How long is the Lash Lift Appointment?

Approximately 40-50 minutes depends on how long and coarse your eyelashes are, and if your lashes will be tinted.

How long do the results of a Lash Lift last?

A lash lift can last anywhere 6-8 weeks depending on how quickly your own lashes grow and regenerate, and how well you care for them. You can extend the results by using eyelash growth serums, but the treatment is not permanent. Our lash lift provides 8-12 weeks of lift and curl to your lashes without having to bother with tools, curling wands, and false lashes.

There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products or heat. If you find that your lift does not last the full two months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of 4 weeks of your initial Lash Lift procedure, but not before.

How often should I get a Lash Lift or Tint?

A lash lift will begin to naturally drop after about two months and your lashes will be back to their natural look. The lashes should drop evenly and will not look out of place. You can repeat the treatment after a minimum of one month if you feel you need to, or you can wait until they are back to their natural state.

Can I wear mascara on my Lash Lifted Eyelashes?

Yes but it is advised that you leave your lashes untouched for at least 24 hours after your treatment. You may find that there is no need for mascara, especially if you opt for a Lash Lift and Tint, however, if you wish to make your lashes even fuller, a non-waterproof mascara is advised as the removal of waterproof mascaras can be harsh on the lashes and weaken the lift.

Can I use an eyelash curler on my Lash Lifted Eyelashes?

No. There will be no need for an eyelash curler as this treatment gives a much better result than using a curler, But more importantly, using one may weaken and damage your lashes.

How do I clean my eyes after my Lash Lift?

Gently, using mild products. Always wait 24 hours to do this, straight after the procedure.

What is the price of a Lash Lift & Tint?
